Barcelona Day 2B: Park Guell
Perfect weather today to continue our tour of Gaudi creations. But first lunch:
Park Guell was conceived by the owner of the property as a place to build affordable housing for his employees. The owner contacted his good friend Gaudi to help design the property into the Garden City he imagined. Ultimately that didn’t work and the owner, Gaudi and their attorney (?!) lived on the property. In1922 it was sold to the city of Barcelona for €3 million and became a public park.
Gaudi’s home (built by his apprentice).
This was our guide Isaac. He carries a multicolored umbrella and called himself Mary Poppins. We loved his sashay through the park.
Everything here designed by Gaudi. Lots of mosaic benches, decoration on ceilings, etc.
We agreed that this house has a phallic theme to it:
Last dinner before we head to the ship tomorrow. We’ll still have the morning and another day after we’re on the ship in Barcelona.
